I am Theo, a Finnish nonbinary theologian (MTheol, BTheol) and digital artist from the Helsinki region. I am a part-time artist with a focus on character designs, detailed illustrations, and retelling myths.As a researcher, I specialize in the European Middle Ages, written sources (manuscripts, old maps), Greco-Roman religion, Christianity, and material culture (objects, architecture, art).As an artist, I excel in character design, concept art, and character exploration. Terms of Service

The commissioner (referred as "you") is expected to read through my Terms of Service (referred as "TOS") before requesting a commission. The commissioner understands that by violating these TOS their commission will be cancelled immediately.A commissioner who is under the age of 18 will not be able to commission me.I hold the right as an artist to change these prices from time to time. This will not affect commissions in progress.I hold the right to decline a commission for whatever reason, and I need not to disclose the reason for such measures.

I will draw content for only those fandoms I am personally part of OR am aware and approving of.I will not draw most (explicit) kinks, and NSFW is not my expertise either.I will not draw or design characters that appropriate or fetishize features, clothing or traditions associated with a culture or ethnicity outside of your own.

Ordering

  • I require CLEAR visual reference for a commission. I won't work from characters and art that you don't own. Don't send me anyone's character/art and tell me to copy it, if it wasn't made for/owned by you.

  • NOTE that I charge extra from the starting price if you want details/items that are not provided in your references (see 'Prices'). These count as extra work for me.

  • Please make sure your commission request is clear and coherent, to avoid unnecessary changes and back-and-forth.

  • You receive a high quality file of your art (300dpi, canvas size starts at ~3000px). If you wish to receive a certain size, please request such beforehand!

  • I post all of my work on my social media and/or portfolio, and have free use of the pieces. If you wish to keep your commission private, you should state this when ordering.

  • Completion time of a commission NOT in queue ranges from a few weeks to two months. This depends on my studies and the queue before you. This time frame is loose, since I do not do art as a day job.

Payment & Changes

  • Payment is made upfront through PαyPαl invoice (EUR) after I have confirmed your order.

  • Changes can be requested on your piece during the sketch stage.

  • After you have approved of the sketch, only minor changes can be made.

  • Further changes come with an additional fee per change made.

  • Mistakes made by me as the artist will be changed with no additional costs.

  • I do not accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment.

Process

  • I will update you on several stages of the drawing process to ensure your satisfaction. The general update process goes as follows:

  • Lined style: Sketch, lineart & flat colors, refined colors, and full version.

  • Painted style: Sketch & color idea, flat painting, refined painting, full version.

  • You can follow my commission progress through Trello, where I keep my public queue. It is linked on my carrd's front page.

  • If for whatever reason the progress is delayed, I will inform you. You are always free to request an update if you don't hear from me!

  • If you wish to have the commission finished for a certain deadline, that should be stated early on. Very short deadlines will cost an additional fee.

Cancelling & Refunds

  • I hold the right to cancel a commission, should you not respect the TOS.

  • Refunds won’t be made after the work has progressed over the sketch stage.

  • You will be refunded if I as the artist won’t be able to finish the commission for whatever reason.

Copyright

  • I hold the copyright to all art I make.

  • When commissioning me, you acknowledge that I have the right to post and alter the work on my portfolio and social media accounts.

  • The commission will be for personal use only. No commercial use / reselling / reuse unless explicitly discussed otherwise.

  • You are allowed to repost the finished piece on your social media accounts if you properly credit me and under no circumstance portray yourself as the owner and maker of the artwork.

  • You are allowed to use your commission for personal, non-commercial use. For instance a personal print or posting it on your character's page is fine.

  • Never remove the watermark off of the artwork. If the signature is cropped, credit must be listed in a visible area with appropriate link(s) included.

  • I do not allow my art to be turned into/sold as/minted as an NFT, or be associated with any blockchains.

Designs

  • You are free to create and commission as much art of the design as you wish! You are the owner of the character, but I am to be credited for the creation of the design.

  • You are not allowed to resell or otherwise redistribute my designs (character designs or adoptables) without exclusive permission from me first. I wish to be kept up to date of the ownership of my designs.

  • If you are to sell the design with my permission, you can't sell it for profit (= for more than you bought it with). Credit of the design still stays with me.

  • Minor redesigns are okay without permission.

  • You are to credit the design to me when appropriate, and you shall not present yourself as the creator of the design.

  • When posting artwork and/or the design of my design/adoptable, do not remove my watermark. I'd appreciate to be credited for the design when possible, but not always necessary.

  • If you commission for art of a design I've made, you get a discount for the piece!

Prices

The prices presented are STARTING PRICES for simple pieces and for private non-commercial use. The price is adjusted with the following factors in mind.

  • Number of characters, including pets and familiars

  • Complexity of design; detailed clothing, armour, items, tattoos

  • Complexity and specifics of the piece

  • Complexity of the background

  • Character interacting with their surroundings/items/et cetera

  • Things that are clearly not part of the design in references, such as new outfits or items.

The price includes a simple background (one or two colors, gradient, effects, et cetera) for free.These are just examples of my most common types of artwork. If you're interested in something else, don't hesitate to ask!

I can help you research historical or religious questions you have!I'm a trainee Master of Theology with a Bachelor's in theology.
I specialize in church history and Latin, and have wide knowledge of exegesis, systematic theology, and practical theology.I have access to and knowledge of many versions of the Bible, from its Latin Vulgata and Greek Septuaginta of the early times, to the modern versions. I can provide Biblical research of the New Testament, but will not provide exegesis on other religious texts outside of Christianity - it is not my place to do so.

My research focuses on the history of Christianity and phenomenons stemming from it. I have deep, trained, and critical historical knowledge, especially (but not limited to) my specializations.My two main areas of specialty are...

  • The history of censorship. I have widely researched the phenomenon of censorship across Europe and its ties to control over marginalized peoples. My Master's thesis was on self-censorship in Italy during the 1500s.

  • Medieval Latin sources. I have 6 years of academic Latin under my belt, and use it daily to scour manuscripts. I wrote my Bachelor's thesis on analysing clerical sodomy in medieval manuscript illuminations from the 1200s.

I research European middle ages and its moral theology, literary heritage, Latin, and the Catholic Church. I have excellent skills in research and handling even large quantities of resources.

Church historian

I am intimately familiar with the Church as an insitution, and how its views on morals, the world, the marginalized, and the "other" was and is. I have intimately researched Christianity's relationship with violence, condemnation, and censorship... but also the love, dedication, and change.

Latinist

I have academic training in Latin of over 6 years, ranging from Roman to medieval Latin. I regularly work with Latin as well as researching and deciphering historical sources.

Hellenist

Greek is a mandatory language in my studies, and I have expertise in Koine Greek ("Biblical" or Byzantine Greek"), which is the medieval variant. I can provide or translate classic or medieval Greek.

Role as historian

As a church historian I always want to critically observe my own role as a historian.Old and new research with primary sources requires presistence and true passion towards the research you do. I seek to do research with fresh eyes by focusing on gender and queer research. I vow to constantly reassess my research in a way that is antiracist, anticolonialist, and acknowledging my own prejudices.As mandated by my degrees, I have studied Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, though I only offer myself as an expert on Christianity.
